Then, whoosh, we’re backstage, and bam – there’s a bunch of Proov pregnancy tests chilling on a table. Fun fact? The lovebirds own a piece of Proov. Suddenly, someone from her team peeks behind a curtain, asking, “How much time you need?” Out comes Ashanti, pregnancy test in hand, dropping a bombshell: “Imma need about nine months.” Classic! The screen fades to black, “To be continued” it reads.

They’re not just expecting; they’re engaged! 🎉 “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” Ashanti gushed. Becoming a mom? She’s all for it, excited to share this journey with her fam, her soon-to-be hubby, and her fans.
The baby buzz? It started swirling around the end of last year. Picture this: Nelly’s Black and White Ball, both of them onstage, hands on Ashanti’s belly. Cue the whispers! A source eventually confirmed to US Weekly that yes, Ashanti’s expecting. This bundle of joy will be her first, making Nelly a dad for the third time. He’s got Chanelle, 30, and Cornell III, 25, with his ex Channetta Valentine. Plus, he adopted his sister Jackie Donahue’s kids, Shawn and Sydney, after she passed away in 2005.

Now, for a little trip down memory lane. Ashanti and Nelly first crossed paths in the early 2000s at a Grammy’s press conference. They had their ups and downs, dating off and on from 2003 to 2013. Remember “Body On Me” in 2008? That was them, together in harmony. Fast forward to last April, they’re spotted hand in hand at a boxing match in Vegas. By May, Nelly’s on Boss Moves with Rasheeda, admitting they’re giving love another shot. “Yeah, we cool again,” he said, surprised at their own reunion.
