Halle Bailey, the star of The Color Purple, is now a mom! The actress revealed the birth of her first baby with her boyfriend, DDG, after months of speculation. She described the birth as “the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me.”
Halle didn’t share the exact birth date, but she did spill some details. The Little Mermaid star and her rapper boyfriend, real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, welcomed a baby boy. They named him Halo.
The Instagram announcement was accompanied by a close-up photo. It showed the couple holding their son’s hand. The baby boy wore a gold bracelet with his name engraved on it. Halle wrote, “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo.”
Halle concluded her announcement with a quip. “The world is desperate to know you,” she said, addressing the rumors that swirled in the months leading up to Halo’s birth. Over the past few months, Halle was seen wearing loose-fit clothing at a Beyonce concert and on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. There was also a photo circulating online that appeared to show her holding a baby bump.
Halle and DDG were first linked in January 2022. They were spotted at Usher’s Las Vegas Residency. The rapper, known for his hit “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” confirmed their relationship two months later in an Instagram post. He was celebrating Halle’s birthday. In a Cosmopolitan interview last September, Halle talked about her relationship with DDG. She said, “You know, you have puppy love experiences, you think that’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love.”
