At the dawn of this year, something magical happened. Halle Bailey, known for her role as Ariel in “The Little Mermaid,” shared some big news. She and rapper DDG were blessed with their first child. Rumors about her pregnancy had been swirling for a while. But it wasn’t until her son made his grand entrance that she decided to spill the beans.
Just a few weeks into being parents, Halle and DDG introduced their son, Halo, to the world. The exact date he came into their lives? Well, that remains a bit of a mystery. During a heart-to-heart with PEOPLE, Halle let slip that DDG, or Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. as he’s less commonly known, picked out the name. “It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” she said, a smile in her voice. “We both just fell in love with it. And, I mean, who wouldn’t love the name Halo?”
Oh, and about that Instagram post. Halle shared a glimpse of their joy with her followers, leaving everyone awestruck. But here’s a kicker – when asked if their son’s name was inspired by Beyoncé’s hit “Halo,” Halle couldn’t help but laugh. “He for sure has a theme song now,” she joked. It’s no secret that Beyoncé has been a guiding light for Halle, especially after she landed the role of Ariel. Beyoncé, having voiced Nala in “The Lion King,” knows a thing or two about iconic roles. Last year, Halle gushed to EW about Beyoncé’s support, saying, “She’s always been very, very complimentary and proud of me. It means the world.”
DDG couldn’t contain his excitement either. He took to YouTube, sharing his thoughts on fatherhood. “Me and Halle had a baby together. I wouldn’t choose anyone else in the world to have a child with,” he confessed. He praised Halle’s natural instincts as a mother, admitting, “It’s crazy. She’s amazing.”
So here’s to Halle and DDG, embarking on this incredible journey of parenthood together. They’ve already shown so much love for little Halo.
And then there’s Kate Fann. Living in East Tennessee with her family, she’s the one bringing us these snippets of joy. When she’s not writing, you might find her exploring the Smoky Mountains or experimenting with a new cake recipe. Her life seems as full of adventure and sweetness as the stories she shares.
