Columbian superstar Maluma has marked his entrance into fatherhood in grand style. The vocalist, whose birth name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias, launched his newest song ‘Procura’ at a concert in Washington, D.C., using the music video to break the big news of his impending parenthood.
The video is a celebration of personal moments shared between Maluma and his partner, Susana Gomez, portraying them savouring each other’s presence and undertaking their life journey together. An especially touching scene presents the two at a doctor’s check-up, where Maluma is visibly moved while witnessing his offspring on the ultrasound for the first time. The film goes on to depict the couple spreading the joyous news to their family, capturing the progress of Susana’s pregnancy, culminating in a gender reveal bash, awash in pink smoke, announcing their baby girl.
The gender reveal party also subtly hinted at what the couple might name their newborn. A close shot of Susana unveiled her diamond necklace inscribed with the name ‘Paris’. The ‘Felices los 4’ rapper seemingly confirmed this choice later during an interaction with NPR, expressing his heartfelt happiness for the new life growing inside Susana. “Our beloved daughter Paris, she’s maturing inside her mother, and she’s the reason for my dreams… She’s my everything at this point.”
Besides expressing his nervous joy at becoming a first-time dad, the “Chantaje” crooner explained how this event is aligning with the personal journey he’s presently undertaking. “It couldn’t have been more perfect timing, with all the amazing things occurring in my life right now. Beyond my love for music and touring, I yearn for personal growth, as a person, not just as a performer. The anticipation of fatherhood, waiting to hold my child in my arms, then see her take her first steps… it’s a magical journey. I believe children are born to teach us a lot and I’m prepared to learn from my little one.
