Michael Clifford, the guitarist from 5 Seconds of Summer, is now a proud dad! He and his wife, Crystal Leigh Lauderdale, have just welcomed their first child into the world. “The love of our life has arrived,” they announced.
On October 30th, the couple welcomed a daughter. They had revealed the baby’s gender back in July. The little one has been named Lua Stevie Clifford. The couple shared this joyous news through a joint post. It included pictures from Lua’s first month, even one of Michael serenading his newborn with his guitar.
In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, the couple revealed that Lua was born in Georgia. Crystal Leigh hails from this state. Michael shared, “We wanted to move here, just for a few years to start our family.” He added, “All of her cousins just had babies too, so it’s fun. Lua is a Georgia-born half-Australian Los Angeles resident.”
Before Lua’s arrival, the couple was busy renovating their new home in Georgia. Crystal Leigh shared her thoughts on their choice of location. She said, “We couldn’t have picked a better place to live for Lua’s beginning stages. Our home is now her sanctuary. We had our future family in mind when we bought this house, but once she arrived, it felt like that’s when everything really clicked into place and made sense, like this has always been her house.”
The couple had announced their pregnancy back in June. Reflecting on Lua’s arrival, they described it as a “beautiful experience.” Crystal Leigh shared some intimate details. She said, “It was such an intimate moment and we’re so glad we were able to have great people to help us through. I don’t think I could’ve done it without the help of our amazing nurse and midwife. They stayed past their shift for us and really went above and beyond in the ways they helped me through labor. Michael was also the most incredible partner, an ’emotional support human’ of the highest caliber!”
So, here’s a big congratulations to Michael and Crystal Leigh on the arrival of baby Lua!
