Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer, is now a proud dad of four! He and his wife, Nicole, who was once Miss California, recently announced the birth of their fourth child. They’re over the moon about it.
On January 16th, they welcomed a baby boy into their lives. The couple had let the world know about the baby’s gender back in November, just a week before confirming Nicole’s pregnancy. They shared a touching Instagram post, showcasing a picture of the gold medalist cradling the newborn. Both parents were seen looking lovingly at their little one.
They’ve named their fourth son Nico Michael Phelps. Seems like the name is a tribute to both his parents, doesn’t it?
Michael and Nicole have been married for seven years now, and they already share three sons together. Their names are Boomer (7), Beckett (5), and Maverick (4). When they revealed Nico’s sex at the end of last year, Nicole talked about the possibility of having a daughter. She said, “I would have loved to have a daughter for Michael so he could have that father-daughter bond that I experienced growing up.”
But she also added, “I strongly believe you’re given what you’re supposed to have and I’m really excited to have another boy.” She admitted that it’s tough when people suggest they should have a girl. But she’s like, “No, I really don’t.”
Nicole also mentioned that her sons had a name in mind for their new sibling. They loved the name Drifter. So, the running joke was that the baby’s name would be Drifter. She talked about how thrilled her kids were about their new brother and what she imagined life would be like with a house full of boys. She said, “The sweetest thing is how genuinely excited the boys are to meet their brother. Having four boys will be crazy but wonderful.”
