Baker Mayfield just hit a major life touchdown – he’s a dad now! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and his wife, Emily Wilkinson, are over the moon with the arrival of their first child on April 9th. “Everything we prayed for and more,” they said.
Emily, who’s quite the influencer, spilled the beans on her Instagram Stories. Yet, she kept the newborn pics under wraps for now. The couple’s bundle of joy? A baby girl they’re absolutely smitten with. Last December, they broke the news of Emily’s pregnancy and now, they’ve introduced Kova Jade Mayfield to the world. “Baby girl joined us Tuesday night just before 7:30pm,” Emily shared. “She is truly everything we prayed for, and more.”
Life’s gotten a tad more hectic and a whole lot happier for them. Their family now includes their dog, Fergus, who’s taking on the big brother role like a champ. “We’re enjoying life as a family of 4 – Fergus is so gentle & curious, Daddy is so smitten, and Mama wants to pause time & make these days last forever.”
Oh, and there’s this adorable pic Emily posted. It’s Baker, holding Kova, with Fergus right there, part of the moment. “My heart could explode at any minute, I swear. Bake was born to be a dad,” she captioned it.
How did this love story start, you ask? Back in 2017, thanks to a friend playing Cupid. Emily’s been pretty open about it being love at first sight for them. Fast forward to July 2019, they said “I do” at an outdoor ceremony in Malibu, California. “I’m from Nebraska and Baker is from Texas,” Emily explained once, “so we both really love the outdoors.” Calamigos Ranch was their pick – the only venue they checked out, reminding them of home, without any of that stuffy, over-the-top vibe.
So, hats off to Baker and Emily! Welcome to the world, Kova!
