Details about the child, such as the date of birth and the child’s gender, were disclosed, while the child’s name was kept under wraps. Recent information suggests that the name of the infant has been revealed through a procured birth certificate.
The certificate has divulged a few specifics about the second-born child of the ‘Umbrella’ songstress. It became apparent that there was a slight mistake regarding the reported birthday of the baby boy. Initial reports stated that the baby was born on August 3rd; however, he was actually born two days earlier, on August 1st, at Cedar Sinai Hospital located in Los Angeles. It has been suggested that the name chosen by the couple for their baby boy is Riot Rose Mayers.
The first letter of the baby’s name is in line with earlier speculations that suggested the couple would choose a name beginning with an “R”. The couple’s firstborn, who was brought into the world in May 2022, also has a name starting with an “R” – RZA Athelston. The name was only made public in May of this year, just before the celebration of the child’s first birthday. Both Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim, have given their children names that share the first initial of their own names. While it is known that RZA’s name was inspired by the Wu-Tang Clan member of the same name, there is uncertainty about whether Riot’s name has a similar association. However, it is worth mentioning that a song titled “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)” was released by A$AP Rocky in collaboration with Pharrell Williams earlier this year.
After the news of RZA’s naming was disseminated, Rihanna verified the information in a casual Instagram post in which her son’s name was mentioned. If the ‘Diamonds’ songstress decides to confirm the revelation of her newborn’s name, it is thought that she might use a similar approach. Notably, neither of the artists have formally announced the birth of their second child, a method also used during the time RZA was born. The first occasion the couple showcased an image of their son publicly was during the cover feature of Vogue in March 2023.
