Rosario Dawson, the 44-year-old actress known for her role in Ahsoka, is prepping for a thrilling new chapter in her life. She’s about to become a grandma! Her 21-year-old daughter, Isabella, is expecting, as Dawson revealed in an exclusive chat with Page Six.
The Rent star is buzzing with excitement about her upcoming role as a grandmother. She spilled the beans that Isabella’s baby is due next year. And guess what? She’s already picked out a cool moniker for herself – Glamma!
Rosario adopted Isabella back in 2014 when the girl was just 11. The story behind the adoption is quite touching. Rosario knew Isabella’s biological mother and when she found out the girl was in foster care, she didn’t hesitate to step in. Dawson once said about the adoption, “It wasn’t even a question; it was clearly meant to be.”
In a 2021 interview with Health, Rosario got real about her journey as an adoptive mom. She said, “I’m grateful for her development, our maturation and our connection. To have a young person move in with you and to have to really consciously work through triggers and that kind of stuff is a really different thing than being pregnant and having your baby grow up in front of you — to be able to see how we’re getting closer and closer. We are a family, and it’s beautiful.”
Before 2018, there was some confusion about Isabella’s name. Rumors had it that her name was Lola. But Rosario cleared the air on an episode of Parents magazine’s We Are Family podcast after Isabella turned 18. She said, “It’s so interesting. When I adopted her, I didn’t put her name out. It wasn’t like I did a press release or anything, and I don’t know where it came from, but somebody decided that her name was Lola and then everyone just kept running with it.”
Isabella, or Bella or Isa as she’s fondly called, is named after Rosario’s grandmother, Isabel. With such strong family ties to the name, who knows, the new baby might just carry on the tradition!
