Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gymnast, has some exciting news! She and her husband, Andrew East, just welcomed their third baby. They broke the news in their FamilyMade newsletter, a little corner of the internet where they share family updates.
The new addition to the family arrived on December 12th. And guess what? It was a c-section delivery, just like their first two kiddos. But here’s a twist: they’ve decided to keep the baby’s name and gender a secret for now. They want to enjoy some private time with the newborn.
This baby’s arrival is a bit different. They chose not to find out the sex before birth, unlike their first two. They shared in the newsletter, “Our baby is healthy and that’s all we can ask for!” Now, that’s a sentiment we can all get behind.
The baby’s birthday holds a special significance for the family. Andrew’s dad was born on December 9 and sadly passed away on December 27 last year. So, December is a month of mixed emotions for them. Andrew feels that having their baby born so close to his dad’s birthday is special. He believes his dad would be proud and smiling down at them.
The couple already has two children: daughter Drew Hazel, 4, and son Jett James, 2. Both were also born via c-section. Andrew couldn’t help but gush over his wife in the newsletter. He’s amazed by Shawn’s strength and love for their new baby. He said, “She’s incredible. These are the moments life is all about!”
Shawn, the Olympic Gold Medalist, opened up about recovery and motherhood. She’s learned to be patient with her body and not rush anything. She’s soaking in every moment of being a mom for the third time. She confessed, “Being a mom is truly my favorite thing.”
The couple is not sure if this will be their last baby. Shawn has expressed that she doesn’t plan on becoming pregnant again. But she’s not ruling out the possibility of having more kids. She’s considering adoption as a way to grow their family.
Congratulations to Shawn and Andrew on their new baby! We can’t wait to learn more about their little one, if they decide to share.
