Renowned Olympic figure skater, Tara Lipinski, has recently announced that she has embraced motherhood. Accompanied by her husband, Todd Kapostasy, who is known to be a professional director and producer, Lipinski delightedly introduced their first born child to the world. The couple decided to call their newborn baby girl Georgie Winter, and she was born via surrogacy.
During a conversation with PEOPLE, the celebrated NBC sports commentator, expressed her enthusiasm and joy of motherhood. Despite minimal rest and occasional crying sessions, Lipinski finds her newborn to be the best part of her day, describing it as, “the best tired I’ve ever been.” She added, reflecting on how serene her daughter’s personality is already showing. The gold medalist admitted her uncontrollable emotions during Georgie’s arrival; she was overwhelmed with relief and happiness.
However, the journey to motherhood was not an easy one for Lipinski. She experienced a challenging and heart-rending five-year journey grappling with infertility. Diagnosed with endometriosis, Lipinski underwent four pregnancies, experienced four unfortunate miscarriages, and underwent four dilation and curettage procedures.
She has bravely spoken about her heart-rending experiences since starting her podcast, Unexpecting, last August. It was there she confessed her five-year secret struggle with infertility, labeling it as a painfully isolating experience. In 2018, she and her husband faced several roadblocks while trying to conceive, including four miscarriages, 24 anesthesia procedures, failed IVF transfers, several retrievals, and two significant surgeries due to her endometriosis diagnosis.
When Tara’s last pregnancy attempt resulted in loss, she decided to seek other paths, leading her and her husband on the journey through surrogacy. We couldn’t be happier for Tara and Todd as they welcome baby Georgie into the world and begin their journey as parents.
