Rewind to their college days at Baylor University, Texas, from 2009 to 2013 – that’s where Brittney and Cherelle’s paths first crossed. But, sparks didn’t fly just yet. Fast forward to June 2019, vows were exchanged, a year post-engagement. Then, 2022 threw them a curveball. February saw Brittney detained in Russia on drug charges, leading to a nerve-wracking nine-year sentence after a tense trial. But, come December, a glimmer of hope – President Joe Biden secures her release in a one-for-one prisoner swap. What a whirlwind!
Home at last, Cherelle breathes a sigh of relief. “I thought I’d be a mess of tears, but joy took over. Finally, I could exhale,” she reflects. And Brittney? She’s channeling her ordeal into a book, “Coming Home,” hitting shelves next month.
